Here I am... on my recent visit celebrating a birthday at the spectacular Casa Carmelita. What better vantage point than to watch the nightly fireworks this time of year? December is the time when all of Mexico celebrates with posadas, festive re-enactments of Joseph and Mary looking for lodging. Read more about them here. The final place for their arrival is at the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe—in Puerto Vallarta on the 12th, although in other areas of Mexico it is much later. Read more about the Church here. After prayers in the Church, locals and visitors mingle in the town square and the Zocalo is alive with music until all hours of the night, offering traditional food and drink. December is also when the humpback whales return to Banderas Bay to give birth to their young. They stay until the end of March. I observed these majestic giants from the balconies of several of the oceanfront villas I represent, and I look forward to sharing my pictures with you in my next newsletter. Season's Greetings, Feliz Navidad y Próspero Año!
